Designer Oana Iliesi, on the choice of the right colors, the errors in arrangements and preferences of Romanians

Why is it important to choose, correctly, a color palette? How do we combine shades effectively? Do we follow the trends or do we put our personal imprint when it comes to the style faced?

These are just some of the questions that many of you certainly ask when it comes to organizing or redeveloping the house.

This is the reason why, to give you answers to all these dilemmas, I appealed to the help of Oana Iliesi, interior designer, who made us the honor of sharing, from his professional experience, some suggestions and suggestions on the agreement of the internal space.

The colors chosen in a provision influence the influence of mood?

Obviously. The shades chosen in an agreement can arouse different states, from tranquility and calm, to states of agitation. It depends a lot on the context of the provision and on what we want to transmit through the chosen colors. A good understanding of how colors interact with mood can help you decorate the house to have a positive mood.

What are the most commonly used shades that you choose in a disposition?

Without only and perhaps the warm shades, the earth. Being more concentrated on the residential side, I like to create a relaxing atmosphere, because we live in a frenetic world and I think each of us, when we go home, we want to relax and disconnect. This, in addition to simplicity, I think I define my style and warm colors help me send this message.

What are some of those colors combinations that eliminate the printing of an agreement?»

If you opt for a neutral interior with some color accents, then I choose the shades of blue, green or brick. If you opt for a colorful arrangement, then I choose a predominant color and the accents give them complementary or contrasting colors, but at smaller doses. Some examples of combinations would be: olive green together with yellow mustard, blue denim with terracota orange or indigo blue together with dusty pink.

What are the colors that are in great vogue this year?

This year it requires a large magnifying down rose, being the color of 2023. I think we will see it more and more in the provisions, especially as stains. Other colors that have continued to be popular and this year are the green olive, the green peppermint, the turquoise blue, but also the caramel brown.

How do you choose the right colors for a project?

In this process I also include the customer. I usually ask the beneficiary if he has some favorite colors to find a main range of colors in the disposal. After that, they are attentive to their undertones and try to complete them, bringing something as cool as possible.

What are the most common errors regarding the arrangement or redevelopment of the internal space?

The first mistake would be the choice of furniture objects before choosing the style of arrangement. Once the style and the general concept has been established, the entire agreement is unitary. Usually the process begins with the larger areas (the finishes of the walls or the floor), following the personalized or large furniture, the last step is the small pieces.
Another mistake is the agglomeration of a room with too many pieces of declaration. In order to remain pieces of impact, they must be highlighted by the lack of other parts of contrast.

How do you think that the preferences of Romanians have evolved in the interior design in recent years?

In recent years, the preferences of Romanians in the interior design have developed in an interesting way, reflecting international trends and influences. The beneficiaries began to be increasingly directed to the concept of natural, resorting to different plants, wooden plots, stone and metal. In some agreements this concept is also found in the fluidity of shapes and lines.

More and more Romanians choose to go to minimalist design styles, with simple lines and neutral colors. These styles are popular because they are functional and easy to maintain, but also because they play a modern and sophisticated appearance.

Another preference is related to the increase in the use of vibrating color accents in the interior design. These accents can be used to add a personality note and to create a more cheerful and optimistic atmosphere.

How do you define a quality agreement?

A quality agreement can be defined as an harmonization of the space in which we live, in order to satisfy some criteria that guarantee comfort, safety and aesthetics. Some of these criteria are: functionality, ergonomics, duration and aesthetics. In general, a successful agreement must be balanced and both the interior designer and the beneficiary are satisfied with the final result.

What do you think is the greatest preconception when it comes to interior designer work?

One of the major preconceptions at the interior designer work is that this is an employment that provides only furniture and accessories, in a pleasant way. In fact, an interior designer must have a lot of knowledge and skills, even on aspects such as space planning, light, colors, materials or ergonomics.

The interior designers must be able to understand the needs and preferences of its customers, develop creative and efficient solutions to meet these requirements, collaborate with various specialists, take into account the customer’s budget and, permanently, for new trends.

What is your favorite style when it comes to interior design?

I think the contemporary minimalist style is one of my favorites. I like to keep the lines simple and clean and highlight only a few plots or colors, so that the resulting arrangement is maintained as long as possible.

I want to redeem my space. What are the first 3 aspects I have to consider?

First of all the functionality of the space. It is important to keep in mind that functionality prevails design. A very well thought out space will last long.

Another aspect would be the color palette and the chosen style. They can generate an interior as a balanced and harmonious.

The last aspect that we must consider, in the agreement, is the budget assigned. It will determine the quality of the products.
